ADULT EDUCATION

Due to the limited range of employment opportunities and poor levels of education among local communities, we have implemented several initiatives to enable the professional development of adults, to diversify income (to relieve natural resource exploitation) and to increase chances of employment.

Adult Education

We run weekly English and French language courses, from beginner to advanced levels, for local adults to provide them with new skills. The aim of these lessons are to increase chances of employment in the local tourism sector and to increase the general interaction of communities with tourists to facilitate the sale of local artisanal products and provision of local guided services. We also provide these lessons for local school teachers so that they can pass these new language skills on to the children they teach. In 2016, we expanded our adult education programme to include lessons on health and hygiene and general global knowledge.

Piroguier Training

Since 2015, we have run marine guide training courses for piroguiers in the popular tourist area of Ifaty-Mangily. Read more here.
